The FX26 Defender Forestry Mulcher is a fixed-tooth cutter that weighs only 785 pounds. It is designed to operate on the standard thumb circuit on all 8,000 - 16,000-pound compact and mini excavators. Its Quadco cutter knives have four positions and will make short work of trees up to 6 inches in diameter as well as vines, grasses and other material. Operating on hydraulic flows as low as 15-17 gallons per minute and 3000 psi; this means your power units do not require any modifications. Hours and hours of testing the four sided Quadco knife on large, hard, and soft woods, has proved that shredding 8" material is not a problem. Features like chain discharge curtain, integrated thumb saddle, bearing protection, direct drive, hoses and couplers, bolt on mount, and curb appeal are always standard on our machines. Since the FX26 Defender was conceived as a means to bring a power intensive capability to a low horsepower platform, not sacrificing the 10% was imperative and is just one of many design factors that made the FX26 Defender Forestry Cutter possible. This excavator mulcher was designed to easily cut through an environment of dense heavy brush and trees. We did this by adapting a well understood concept to fit our needs; the flywheel. Think of the cutter drum as an energy storage device, making it do all the work and the power unit simply replenishes the supply. This keeps the power unit from going into relief and maximizes the amount of energy being turned into cutting power. The cutter drum provides the torque necessary to finely mulch wood or shred through vines. A cutter drum with less momentum would cause vines to wrap and get caught around the drum. This engineered design also minimizes wear on drive components and keeps the hydraulic system cool compared to other hydraulic intensive attachments.
